Barrett
Name: Barrett
Age: 26 turns
Orientation: Homesexual
Gender: Male
Occupation: Doctor
Squad: N/A
Lodgings: The docktowns
Appearance: The most remarkable facet of Barrett's appearance is that he is a very, very big man. He stands at 6’8 with broad-shoulders and a solid build that makes him a bit intimidating. His features, sharp and strong, don't exactly help with lowering that scare-factor- it's not that he's got an ugly face, it's just that he has a very severe, predatory face. He is not capable of subtle expression, and since he often feels a mild disgust for everything, he's often got quite an unpleasant, upset expression that can seem quite worrying. His eyes are a bright blue that, in many cases, make his expressions that much more intense.
The second most notable thing about Barrett is how -clean- he is. His dark gold hair is always organized with clear purpose, his dark tan skin is always flawless and clean of any dirt, and his clothes are always free of any wrinkles. Even his shoes are as clean as they can possibly be, and are often quite shiny.
Personality: Barrett is a very affectionate, loving person. In fact, he's a disturbingly affectionate and loving person. He dotes on everyone he cares for, whether he's known them for a couple of days or a couple of years, and especially loves to give gifts. When he stops caring about how unclean people are (that is, when he really, really loves them), he can be very physically affectionate; he'll be constantly holding hands, hugging, and reaching out to touch the other person just to make sure they aren't leaving.
Unfortunately, Barrett doesn't love anyone but Barresk as an equal- even his husband is viewed as lesser. He still thinks his husband is better than everyone else, but he's not -quite- as smart as Barrett or Barresk. Absolutely everyone gets that treatment, too, no matter how much smarter they actually are than Barrett. No matter how many times they prove themselves to be more clever, more perceptive, or more intelligent, he's still convinced that he knows best. He saves lives, after all! Of -course- he knows best.
Being hated by Barrett isn't much better than being loved. He doesn't understand the principle of a 'grey area'- he sees the world in complete black and white. People are either good or bad in his mind, and he often makes that decision within minutes of speaking to someone. It's very, very difficult for him to change his mind after he's decided whose good or bad, and once he's changed his mind he won't do it again. After all, if he changes his mind a lot, he won't be the best! Rude patients are especially hated, and may find themselves leaving with a few more internal injuries than they left with.
If there's one group of people he will always love, it's people younger than him. He defines everyone younger than himself as a precious child to be taken care of, and has unofficially adopted every orphan in the Neath. He heals orphans for free, and refuses to recognize any child as 'bad'. They just need a proper parent to raise them. Like him! Really, if it was up to Barrett, he'd be raising lots and lots and lots of babies! However, that hasn't quite happened. Oh well.
History:
- Barrett was born in the neath to a pair of traders who came down to make a fortune in silk trading. They do relatively well, but both his mother and father are almost constantly busy.
- From the age of twelve, Barrett pretty much raised himself, because of his parent's often being gone. Due to the loneliness of an empty house, he ended up taking in a lot of injured, tiny neath things. Almost all of them ended up dying, but he manages to fix up a few of them. It also gets him interested in healing, in part because he had to patch himself up once or twice when a really cute, hurt looking creature ended up having big fangs.
- He becomes distraught when, at the age of sixteen, his parents, after coming home to find he had put some sort of strange, multi-eyed newt in the bathtub, banned him from going out and picking up whatever creatures were lurking around
- In an attempt to mollify their child, his parents send him off to apprentice to a local doctor that they're friends with. Barrett ends up spending almost all of his time there, throughout the years. The doctor is very much a lonely man, and more than welcomes companionship, even if it's from someone whose a bit of an odd person..
- At twenty, when he finishes his apprenticeship, Barrett gets gifted a wher egg by the man who taught him how to sew people back together. The doctor claimed it had been payment for a long-term, extensive treatment. Barrett didn't much care on pressing him for the truth, because when Barresk hatches nothing really matters. Not the truth, not right, not wrong- nothing matters but -Barresk-. She's a beautiful creature, and she means everything to him.
- Barrett and Barresk immediately go to live in the docktowns so they can treat zailors. They develop a very doting practice that promises safety for whoever recuperates with them, and often make a habbit of picking up the currently-dead so they come back to life somewhere nice and safe. People too stubborn to pay a fee when they came back to life would often find themselves quickly dead again.
- At twenty three, Barrett meets his fabulous fantastic future husband. He is completely enamored with the man and, after many nights of "Oh man Barresk what should I do this guy makes my heart really happy", he asks him out on a date. It goes really well, and they start dating.
- A year later, they get married! Barrett and Barresk have continued their often too-doting and sometimes patient-killing medical practice, which Barrett's husband is absolutely okay with. After all, death is only temporary! Most recently, Barrett has taken interest in the children of the neath. The poor dears are so lonely and sick and he -needs- to take care of them! They are all his babies. All of them.

Barresk
Name: Barresk
Orientation: Bisexual
Age: 6 turns
Height: 5.8ft
Color: Red
Hex Code: #d73d3d
Appearance: Barresk looks a lot like, well, a wher. She's thickly built with all of the muscle one expects of such a creature, with a short neck and a thick body. Her tail is a little bit stubbier than most other whers, but it doesn't cause her any balance issues.
Her coloring is a bright, bloody red with a lighter underbelly, and light curves over where her ribs are. There are a few darker spots along her legs and the edges of her wings, while the very top of her wings are lighter. A darker band also wraps around her tail.
Personality:
Barresk is the loving type. After all, she is the wher of a healer. She takes her duties as a watch wher seriously, and she's always the first to gently remind someone that the first duty of a wher is to be a guard if they express amazement at her composed demeanor. Why should she snap and bite and behave like some mad animal? Whers, after all, are supposed to protect humans. They're such sad, malformed little creatures with their blunt fingers and dull teeth. No, Barresk would never hurt a human if she could help it. She loves them and will happily tell them so.
Barresk is outwardly a rather charitable creature. She's free with her favors and with protection, seemingly always happy to take another stray under her wing. Once someone has fallen under her metaphorical thumb Barresk likes to keep them there. Rejecting her advances is one of the few things that shakes her unflappable aura. Barresk holds a grudge for a long time and she likes nothing more then seeing someone come crawling on their knees to her with apologies. Especially if they're a former ward of hers.
Barresk is a very intelligent wher. She excels at problem solving and even shows a great deal of planning for the future. She frequently reminds her handler of people that he has healed in the past and uses these connections to the fullest extent. Barresk doesn't believe in wasting resources. If there is something or someone that can be used, Barresk will find a way to use them. Her lack of empathy can lead to pawns being dragged through the mud and unfortunately leads to her quickly losing her 'wards.'
Despite her attempts at appearing composed Barresk in fact has a horrible temper. She can not tolerate rejection at all and being refused something she wants can send her into a rage until she gets it or destroys it. She wants to be viewed as kind, giving, and generally be given everything she thinks is her due. When she isn't things tend to get ugly quick. Her reputation being damaged is also another thing that sets Barresk off. She takes pains to preserve is and blackmail is one of her weaknesses.
Despite her relatively pacifistic nature and her supposed love for humans, Barresk is incapable of regarding anyone other then her handler as an equal. Barrett's husband is a treasured, irreplaceable pet, but only a pet in her eyes. The people of the Neath are toys to play with and break at her whims. She knows best for the people around her and only Barrett is intelligent enough to challenge her decisions. In her mind, this isn't egotism. It simply is. She affords whers more respect then she does humans and dragons, but she tends to view herself as superior anyway.
Note: Barrett's husband will, in the future, be apped by Scorch. Yaay. Scorch also wrote Barresk's personality.
