The docktown was perhaps the place that Keres spent most of her time. There were plenty of dark places to host a ring on the cheap and plenty of people who were looking to make a quick pot of marks. But more importantly, it was a place to find a healer who didn't ask many questions. Keres was after one of those healers at the moment, quietly streaking through the stagnant Neath air towards her goal.
She landed on the window sill and peered through the glass. Barresk? It's Keres. The firelizard called as she tapped her claws against the glass. I would greatly appreciate it if you would ask your human to open the window. It's cold out here. Keres propped herself up on her hindquarters and pressed her forepaws against the glass, her eyes whirling an irritated crimson. It was cold. Keres hated the cold.
She hoped that Barresk was in. She had tried to time her arrival in order to catch the wher but Barresk was really a complete mystery to Keres. She'd never met a wher that considered herself a pacifist before. What was the use in that thick hide and deadly claws if you weren't going to use them?
What a waste. She was such a nice looking wher and reds always brought in the crowds. Alas. At least her handler was useful to the gold even if the wher insisted on making herself useless.
Keres flapped her wings a few times to shake off the flakes of Neath snow clinging to her before it could begin to irritate her hide. She hated winter. What was the point of it all?

Barresk was quite busy manning the desk. Sure, it was a little bit odd to have a wher be the one to admit you in to a doctor's office, but there were far stranger things in the neath. Plus, it gave her human more time to tend to the patients, which meant more people who'd get better, which meant more people that'd come back forever and ever. And that meant more people who they could use.
When Keres's voice entered her head, the red was quick to reply. Welcome. One second, please. I'll tell Mine you're here. Her words were polite and pleasant, and the wher stuck true to her word, quickly contacting her handler.
Mine. Keres is here to see you. At the window.
Oh! Thank you, sweetheart. Tell her I'll be there after I clean my hands.
She nodded to no one in particular before relaying the message faithfully, not bothering to rise from her position at the desk. After all, Keres was not a delicate flower. The gold could surely wait long enough for Barrett to clean up whatever/whoever he had been working on.
Mine will see you in a few moments.
True to the red's words, Barrett was at the window quickly, opening it so the gold firelizard could fly in. The man smiled politely at Keres before quickly shutting the window again, brushing away the bits of Neath snow that had gotten inside. Blech.
"Hello, Keres. I hope you're doing alright. What's the matter today? Nothing too serious, I hope." She didn't -seem- to be dying or poisoned, but you never knew. Well, he knew, but that was just because he knew pretty much everything.

Keres was inside before Barrett could even finish his sentence, perching on the nearest available piece of furniture. She shuffled her wings a bit, running the edge of her muzzle along her legs to make sure she was presentable. I'm afraid you have no need to cut into my flesh today, my dear. Keres chirped, her eyes cooling to a more reasonable blue. Though I am sorry to deny you of the opportunity. Yeah right.
Oh. Yes, he would want to know of her human. Well, there was nothing wrong with letting him know that her dearest was still breathing. My dearest Camael is also in good health though I insisted that he stay home today. The snow doesn't agree with him. She flapped her wings one more time before settling into a relaxed, crouched position.
I trust your mate is well? You always were one to take excellent care of your fair, Barrett. It's obvious enough from Barresk's excellent condition. Compliments first, business second. It had worked well for her in the past. Humans seemed to like that sort of thing. Oh, forgive me. You know how I can tatter on. I've come for business, I'm afraid. She would have frowned were she capable of it. Instead she settled for shifting her eyes to a more yellow shade.
Keres shifted, glancing over her tail. I have an event planned. There is a... possibility that someone of some importance will be making an appearance to watch. I haven't told any of the registered fighters nor will I, but you know how such things go. People talk. A bit of an understatement in Igen. Fighters get excited. They show off. I was wondering if you would honor me with your presence as an emergency healer?
You will be paid, of course.

Barrett took a seat in one of the chairs of the small waiting room, looking at Keres as he listened intently to the gold firelizard. She was, after all, a customer! It would be awful for business if he was rude to her. "Oh." It was hard to hide the disappointment in his voice, but he did his best. "Well, it's good, at least, that you're healthy." He was doing very good at being polite, but he did want to know what was wrong. He couldn't help it; it was just so great to know what was wrong with people!
"Oh! That's good to hear." Children could be such a handful, so it was nice knowing that Keres's charge was doing alright. After all, the poor gold would probably have a bit of a hard time taking care of Camael if he had a cold. Medicine was awfully hard to give to people when you were the size of a cat, he suspected.
When the discussion turned to his husband and Barresk, the man smiled brightly, nodding. "Yes, he's doing well." The blond was very obviously pleased by the compliments, straightening one of his sleeves as he thought of a response that wasn't just 'yes, I am the very best'. "That's very kind of you to say." Kind, and true! He took the very best care of everyone that was his, and it was nice to have that recognized.
The man's focus went back to the firelizard when she began to speak of business, nodding slightly as the gold spoke. When Keres was done speaking, he smiled and nodded again. "Oh, that sounds like fun. I'd be happy to be there in case things get a bit too rough." Fights were so exciting! Not the silly street fights, but real fights between practiced combatants who fought for money and prestige. Events like this made him almost regret never getting in to it himself. Almost. Not quite, because being a healer was far above that. But almost.
"Where and when should I be there, then?" Oh, how much fun.
