Name: Hayyel
Age: Seventeen turns
Orientation: Bisexual
Gender: Male
Occupation: Brown Weyrling
Lodgings: Weyr
Appearance: Hayyel isn’t exactly the most intimidating thing running around in the Neath. He’s a bit short at 5’5, and is a bit chubby. His shoulders are a bit square, but they look much less prominent with how often they’re slumped. In addition, his face is round and soft, giving him a gentle, surprised look in almost every situation. His large eyes are a warm brown and are often a bit obscured by his shoulder-length, slightly curled black hair.
Personality: Hayyel is extremely cautious. He takes his time with pretty much everything, trying very hard to thoroughly determine whether or not a threat exists. The teenager looks under every table and opens every box, just to be certain that nothing is about to try and hurt him. Unfortunately, even though he tries to determine threats, he's very bad at it; Hayyel makes really, really bad choices. If the choice isn't obvious, he'll often make the most dangerous one; what's wrong with taking the path that has a few less people along it, or is a little more dark? Hayyel doesn't see the issue!
He especially makes bad choices when it comes to friends. He has the worst choice in friends, and refuses to see anything they do as a sign that he should not be friends with them. Once he's chosen someone as a friend, they can't prove themselves bad- anything they do must just be a one-time-thing, and so he dismisses it and refuses to bring it up as a problem. No matter how much a friend scares or hurt him, Hayyel will never tell them. After all, his friends must be good!
Despite his worry and pretty consistent bad choices, Hayyel is very hopeful. He always believes things can get better, even if he was just very, very scared by something. No matter how awful things can get, Hayyel has a remarkable ability to almost always recover, because he is just really full of hope, even if on the surface he will lament and complain. He also tends to be very patient in waiting for the better to come after the bad, despite the fact he does enjoy complaining.
While Hayyel is nervous about upsetting his friends, it doesn't stop him from being a bit mean sometimes. He's never directly mean or rude, however. Instead, Hayyel is very, very passive-aggressive. If sticky notes existed, he would leave them -everywhere-. Sometimes, he can be slightly sarcastic, but will always walk back on the sarcasm unless he's talking to certain people he believes won't hate him for it.
History: *Hayyel was born on the surface in a cothold that was entirely uninterested in the Neath. He grew up with only a vague knowledge that there was anything beyond the little farm his family tended to, and spent most of his childhood working in the cothold cooking, cleaning, and helping mend clothes.
*As he got older, he started to help with other work on the farm, but he didn't much enjoy it. It was hot and sticky and dirty on the farm, and he much preferred the housework he had done while younger. Unfortunately, his father insisted that he work outside with the rest of the older children of the cothold.
*However, at thirteen, he managed to finally become a sort of official babysitter/overwatcher for the younger children. He liked it quite a bit, even if the younger kids could be sort of annoying.
*At fifteen, when a caravan came by to trade, he met a boy named Brennen. In the week the caravan was there, they became fantastic friends; Hayyel was charmed by the (possibly fake) stories his new friend told of all these different places. Most amazing were the stories of a vast, mysterious underground city that was still filled with dragons. Hayyel is -fascinated- with the Neath, because dragons are brave and cool and amazing!
*When the caravan's week near the cothold is up, Brennen and Hayyel hatch a plan to take some supplies and go to the Neath. It starts out fun, and exciting, and all of that, but they're out of supplies by the time they reach the Neath, and it is not nearly as awesomegreat as it sounded.
*Brennen quickly ditches to go back to the surface, but Hayyel is confident things can get better in the Neath. He, uh, also believes that his parents won't accept him if he comes back. So Hayyel stays in the Neath and works as a cook at a tiny bar in the flit.
*With the laying of Bellonath's clutch, Hayyel has volunteered as a candidate. Dragons are cool!

Are laid out one by one

Name: Devoniath
Color: Brown
Length: 38 ft
Hex Code: e3cf9c
Appearance: Devoniath is a chubby baby and he carries that thickness well into adulthood. As he grows he sheds fat in favor of muscle but there's always an extra bit of weight that he doesn't quite need about him. His legs are short, giving him a strangely stunted appearance and forcing him into an odd hopping gait when he's on the ground. His chest is very broad, matching his barrel-like middle and his thick tail. He's painfully slow and makes up for it in sheer endurance and strength. His wings are impressively long, almost disproportionately so.
Devoniath's broad shoulders lead to a thick neck that melts almost seamlessly into his wide head. His muzzle is short and blunt. His eyes are beady and unfortunately severely farsighted, leading to him having difficulty making his way around the Neath without the help of his rider. His headknobs are extremely small and flattened against his skull, making them easy to miss unless someone is specifically looking for them.
Personality:
Devoniath's rude, loud and generally a very unpleasant dragon to be around. It's not that he tries to be so abrasive. It's more that he just has the social graces of a particularly sour lemon. He has difficulties understanding others and their feelings and dislikes contact, often reacting to situations that make him uncomfortable by screaming loudly until it stops. Even when trying to be 'nice' he can be quite abrasive- screaming loudly so 'people can hear him better' or bringing people corpses and taking offense when they don't want his gross herdbeast corpse. He quickly grows agitated when his bad behavior is called out, insisting that other people are behaving badly and not him. Pretty much the only people who can succeed at scolding him are Hayyel and close friends.
One thing Devoniath really loves is food. He's always looking for a way to get new food and one of the few places he actually uses his brain is when trying to get something to eat. While usually Devoniath is quite simple minded and easy to fool he'll actually use his smarts to get food. Outside of trying to think up new ways to get snacks, Devoniath is rather simple. He just doesn't think about complicated things because he doesn't care. Why bother? Things don't tend to hold his interest unless they're shiny or tasty. Even better if they're both. Hayyel is better at that thinking thing, let him do it. Once Devoniath is focused, however, he doesn't really give up. He's made up his mind and that's too rare for him to give up!
Devoniath is pretty sure that he's all that and a bag of chips. He's the very best ever! Or, he is until something bad happens. Then that thin shell of self confidence crumbles and the gooey insecure core is revealed. The truth is, Devoniath is aware of how unstable he is and very easily hurt by insults about his personality. He tries to cover it up by acting confident but it's all a lie. He doesn't like showing anyone but Hayyel this vulnerable side and will quickly go irate if anyone tries to make him talk about his 'feelings.'
Hayyel is Devoniath's favorite person. He's the calm in the center of the storm, someone safe to crawl off too when the world is just too much. For that, Devoniath will fight tooth and claw to keep Hayyel safe. He'll also happily chase off anyone who tries to take advantage of Hayyel's kindness. Devoniath isn't the most stable dragon around but he loves Hayyel and he'll do his best to be there for Hayyel whenever he can be. That's what dragons are for, after all.
